on which principal solar cell works

Solar Cells are the devices which converts the Light energy into Electrical energy.
When the light is allowed to fall on this Cell, the cell then generates Voltage across the terminal. This voltage increase will result the increase of Light intensity.
The cell is designed to to a large area which is exposed to Light (mainly sunlight),which enhances the Voltage generation across the two terminals (points).

the principle is photo electric effect
the energy of photons of sun ray breaks the bond and release electrons from dropped semiconductor . and the remaining energy of photons gives electrons the kinetic energy to circulate. Hope this will help you.
