Principle:when a current carrying conductor is placed perpendicular to a magnetic field it experiences  force.

It can be explained using flemming's left hand rule ie, when the thumb index finger and middle finger of the left hand are stretched perpendicular to each other,they represent direction of force,magnetic field and direction of current respectively.
