Saplings planted by class 1 students = 940
Saplings planted by class 2 students = 776

Therefore, extra saplings planted by class 1 students =

saplings planted by class 1 students - saplings planted by class 2 students

 = 940 - 776

 = 164

\boxed{Hence,\: class \:1\: students\: planted\: 164 \:saplings\: more \:than\: class\: 2\: students}

Hope this answer helps you..
