Suppose, an impulse reached a cell. Then it will respond to this impulse by changing its arrangement / mechanisms. Then, the cell itself will generate the same impulse so that it can be passed on to other cells. Once the cell generates impulse, it will be transmitted to neighbouring cell and the neighbouring cell will respond in the same way.
