The synthetic fibre shrink when it is bond. On the other hand the cotton fibre did not shrink when it was burnt.

Explanation:

  • the artificial fibres of the synthetic fibres are usually produced at high temperature and pressure. As a result of this when they are burnt they increase in length due to distortion and decrease in kinetic energy of the molecules of the synthetic fibre.
  • However the natural fibre of the cotton fibre do not shrink because there is no change in the kinetic energy.
