TOM SAVES THE DAY
Once I was going to my friends home. When I take a turn from the next square, I suddenly heard a loud barking of dogs. I stopped and I went to see. I was shocked to see a small kitten hidden behind the dustbin trembling seeing the big dogs barking at her. I quickly ran to the spot and shooed away the dogs and took the trembling kitten into my arms.
She licked my palm showing her gratefulness. I decided to have her as my pet and took her home. I named her Tom , because she did resemble her namesake with her grey coat. I made a comfortable bed for her in a basket and gave her a bowl of milk everyday.
After a few years , Tom had grown into a very healthy and beautiful cat. One Sunday afternoon , I was having a quiet nap after a hectic week. Tom suddenly came to me and tried to wake me up. She kept purring and shook and licked my elbow. I immediately woke up and looked at Tom. She never used to behave in this manner all these years and I wondered what was wrong with her suddenly?
She jumped off my bed and went down to the kitchen. I quickly followed her and I found that I had forgotten to turn off the gas after cooking my lunch. If Tom wasn't there , then I am sure the whole house would have blazed down in no time. I thanked Tom for about a thousand times and wasn't she pleased when I bought her a cute toy to play with!
