Hoping to bring them together he made a plan. The old man gave 1 stick to each of them and asked them to break it. All 4 sons broke it easily. Now the old man tied many such single branches together using a rope and passed it to each son asking them to break. Now it was not possible to break the sticks as they were too hard to break. Then the old man said if you people will quarrel and be separated it is easy for anyone to defeat you people like those single sticks but if you people are together like this bunch no one can ever defeat you.
From then all 4 brothers lived happily together.
