Once upon a time, there lived a king in a palace. He was very
handsome but he was a great fool. One day he announced that he
wanted to reach the moon and arrangements should be made for that.
No one had the courage to tell the king that it was not possible to do
that. The clever minister thought of a plan. He went to the king and
said, “Your Majesty, tell the royal carpenter to have all the barrels in
the kingdom fastened together into a tower. You can then climb to the
top and reach the moon.”
At the king's orders, all the barrels were collected and fixed one on
the top of an other to make a tower. Every piece of wood, even beds
and chairs, were added to the tower At last, the tower was ready and
the king managed to reacn the very top. He stretched up to reach the
moon but couldn’t.
"Send up another chair or box,” he called out. "There is nothing left."
said the clever minister. Then take something off the bottom and send
up,” said the foolish king. They pulled a barrel from the bottom of the
tower. As expected, the entire tower collapsed and the foolish king diead .
