Answer:

THE KING AND HIS KINGDOM

Once upon a time there was a king who was very generous and kind.........People in his kingdom were very happy and prosperous. Often he would disguise himself and go among people to know the state of affairs first-hand. He felt very happy that all the people in his kingdom were leading a happy life. They had all they needed to live happily.

Once he decided to go to a distant village to find the state of people living there. He reached there disguised as a fruit seller. As he reached the village market, he found a crowd of people; a few of the royal guards were also there. They were holding a poor looking young man; he had been handcuffed. He also edged closer to the crowd. From a man standing there he asked, “What has happened here? Why is the young man in chains?”

“He was caught red-handed stealing fruit from the King’s garden!”, replied the man, “He is being taken to the King’s court for punishment!”

Hearing this, the king rushed to the guards and said, “I your King order you to the free the young man immediately.” With this he took off his false beard and ordinary clothes. The people were wonder-struck! He further ordered his guards, “Give this young man 12 baskets full of different fruits. No one should feel the temptation of stealing.”

The young man felt exceedingly happy and thanked the King. People felt proud of their King.
