Alan's father knew that his son was not athletic. But he understood that if his son was chosen

halfway, the fielder on his right had got the ball. He could have thrown the ball to the fielder
at the gully and Alan would have been out. But the fielder understood what the bowler's
intentions were, so he threw the ball high over another fielder's head.
As Alan was about to reach the wicket, the boys ran with him screaming, "Alan, complete
