Shylock valued money over everything even his daughter. When she eloped shylock was more concerned about the ducats and jewels that she took and he even cursed her for doing so.

He loved his wealth more than his daughter. That makes readers feel that he was much greedy and selfish and this reason adds up for him to be counted bad.

Reason:- While Jessica,her daughter ran away with jewels,he never minded her daughter gone but was afraid of his jewels,gems and ducats and hence he was found shouting on the streets about his list wealth.
