Role of DNA in reproduction

During reproduction reproducing cells form two copies of DNA. One of them is transferred to offspring and other remains in the reproducing cell which have additional cellular apparatus.

DNA copying helps in the transfer of characters from parents to offsping.

It also promote variation.
