Cones are small photo receptors present inside the eyes. They are responsible for the color detection and help us see different colors. We are able to see colors in light only because, when we look at a certain object in light, the wavelength of the light that comes back after hitting the object and hits our cones inside the eye determines the color we will see.

Hence, light is important in order for us to see different colors.

1. The retina in the eye is made of many light sensitive cells.

3. The cone - shaped cells do not respond to faint light.

4. They function only in bright light.

Hence, one can sense colours only in bright light.

Hope it helps!
