Out \: of \: 52 \: cards \: one \: card \:can \: be

 drawn\: in \: 52 \: ways .

So, total \: number \:of \: elementary \:events

 = 52

 a) There \: are \:26 \: red \:cards \: , including

 4 \: spades, \: in \:a \: pack \:of \: 52 \: playing

 cards .

 Also , there \: are \: 2\: black \: spades

 \therefore Favourable \: number \: of

 elementary \: events = 28

 \red{ Required \:: probability = \frac{28}{52}}

 = \frac{ 7}{13}

 b) There \: are \: 4 \: spades \: and \: 4 \:kings

in \: a \: pack .

 \therefore Favourable \: number \: of

 elementary \: events = 8

 \red{ Required \:: probability = \frac{8}{52}}

 = \frac{ 2}{13}
