One card is drawn from a well shuffled deck of 52 playing cards . Find the probability drawing a card of spades .

P(E) = No. of favorable outcomes / Total No. of outcomes

Total No. of outcomes = 52

No. of favourable outcomes = 13

P( A spade card ) = 13/52

= 1/4

* A deck of cards consist of 52 cards which are divided into 4 suits of 13 each

  • Spade (♤)
  • Heart (♡)
  • Diamond (◇)
  • Clubs(♧).

Clubs and spade are black in colour, while hearts and diamond are of red colour.

The cards in each suits are ace,king,queen,Jack, 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3 and 2.

Kings, queens and Jack are called face cards.
