Let A: { card drawn from 1st pack is red} & B: {card drawn from 2nd pack is black}. P(A)=2652=12 . Similarly, P(B)=12 . Hence, P(AB)=P(A)∗P(B)=14 . Likewise, if the card drawn from 1st pack is black and that drawn from the 2nd is red, then the probability is also 14 . Hence, the required probability is 14+14=12 .
