Solution :-

→ When first child reads 1 , other child reads = 99 = 1 + 99 = 100

→ When first child reads 2 , other child reads = 98 = 2 + 98 = 100

→ When first child reads 3 , other child reads = 97 = 3 + 97 = 100

→ When first child reads 4 , other child reads = 96 = 4 + 96 = 100

so on,

Since sum of both students reading is 100 .

say the certain number both reads out was x .

then,

→ x + x = 100

→ 2x = 100

→ x = 50 (Ans.)

Hence, the required number was 50 .
