One corner of a solid cube of side 8 cm is removed by cutting through the mid points of three adjacent sides.  

 

Side of the Cube: 8 cm  

Mid point of side: 4 cm  

If the cube is cut from one corner and from three adjacent sides ( from that corner),  

the figure which is cut will make a triangular pyramid.  

Side of the triangular pyramid.  

Base : 4 cm, 4 cm  

Height : 4 cm  

Area of the base (Triangular) : 1/2 x 4 x 4 = 8 sq. cm.  

Volume of the triangular pyramid : 1/3 x (Area of base) x height  

= 1/3 x 8 x 4  

= 10.667 cu. cm
