The probability of the selected card is an even number = 10/20

The probability of the selected card is an odd number = 9/20

The probability of the chosen card is a prime number = 7/20

Given:

\A, B, C, and D planned to play games using number cards. They prepared 20 numbered cards labeled 1 to 20 and then they put all the number cards in the empty chalk box available in the classroom.

In this game, every friend was asked to pick the card randomly and after each draw, the card was replaced back in the chalk box.

To find:

a) what is the probability of the selected card being an even number?

b) what is the probability of the chosen card being an odd number?

c) what is the probability of the chosen card is a prime number?

Solution:

Formula used:

Probability P(E) = No of favorable outcomes /Total No of outcomes

Given that

Number of cards prepared by A, B, C, and D = 20

If we pick a card randomly, the total No of outcomes = 20

a) what is the probability of the selected card being an even number?

Even numbers from 1 to 20 = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20

No favorable outcomes = 10

The probability of the selected card is an even number = 10/20

b) what is the probability of the chosen card being an odd number?

Odd numbers from 1 to 20 = 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19

No of favorabl outcomes = 9

The probability of the selected card is an odd number = 9/20

c) what is the probability of the chosen card is a prime number?

Set of prime numbers from 1 to 20 = 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19

No favorable outcomes = 7

The probability of the chosen card is a prime number = 7/20
