SODIUM (Na) reacts with cold water.

Always remember the following informations:

  • Highly reactive metals like Sodium and Potassium (Group 1 / Alkali metals) directly react with cold water and displace hydrogen from water.

  • Alkaline earth metals (like Calcium/Group 2 metals) reacts less vigorously with cold metals.

  • Magnesium reacts vigorously with hot water and very slowly with cold water. This is because the heat is required as the activation energy for the metals in this reaction is much higher.

\star Hope It Helps.
