Given : One day, Maria took 27 minutes to walk 1.8 km to school.

She left home at 07:48.

To Find :

A-Write down the time Maria arrived at school.

B-Show that Maria's average walking speed was 4km/h.

Solution:

Time taken = 27 minutes

Left home at  7 : 48

time Maria arrived at school. = 7: 48 + 27

= 7 : 48 + 12 + 15

= 8:00 + 15

= 8 : 15

Maria arrives at 8:15

Distance = 1.8 km

Time = 27 mins  = 27/60  hrs

= 9/20  hrs

Speed = Distance / time

= 1.8 / (9/20)

= 36/9

= 4   km/hr

Maria's average walking speed was 4km/h.
