One day, my mother had kept candies for me and my two sisters in a box and asked
us to split them equally among us. I was the first one to reach home that day. I took
my share and left the other two shares in the box for my sisters. After a while, my
elder sister Siya reached home and thought that she was the first one to reach
home. She took her share from the box and left two equal shares for us.
In the end, my other sister, Jaya, reached home. She too thought to be the first one
to reach home. So, she took her share and left 8 candies in the box.
In the evening, when we all met, we realised what had happened. Our mother then
distributed the 8 candies amongst us so that we all get equal candies.
Questions for discussion:
1. How did the mother distribute the 8 candies? How many did each of Deepa,
Siya and Jaya get?
2. How did the mother treat her 3 daughters?
3. How did Jaya feel when she realised what had happened?
