One day, Reeta went to a jeweller's shop with her mother. Her mother gave old gold jewellery to the Goldsmith to polish. Next day when they brought the jewellery back ,they found that there was slight loss in its weight. Can you suggest a reason for the loss in weight?

Whenever any metal gets deposited with dirt ......and we polish it using chemicals the dirt takes away some part of metal and that reduces it's mass .......I think due to the action of chemicals to make the metals look shining and lustrous......it loses its mass.
