One day rita went to a jeweller's shop with her mother. her mother gave an old gold jewellery to the goldsmith to polish. next day when they brought the jewellery back, they saw a slight loss in it,s weight. can you suggest a reason for the loss in weight ?

her gold Smith polished it it's upper layer has taken out by the brush that's why it was light.

The jeweller may dip the jewellery in the solution of acid, which reacts with the outer covering of metal. Thus there is a net loss of weight in the metal of the ornament.
