the function of rer are it helps in synthesis of protein as it contain ribosome granules at its surface that why it is called rough endoplasmic reticulum and sometimes it also helps in RNA synthesis in some organism

the function of SCER it helps in synthesis of lipid and both RER and SER combinedly form the plasma membrane it also helps in detoxification of liver it also help in detoxification of toxic substances
