Given:

Number of coins arranged = 1 dozen

Total height of coins arranged = 6.6 cm

To find:

The thickness of 1 coin =?

Solution:

One dozen coins mean a total of 12 coins is arranged one on another.

The height of the stack of coins on one another is dependent on sum total thickness of all coins.

Let the thickness of each coin be "X" cm.

∴ Total height = 6.6 cm for 12 coins

=> Thickness of 1 coin = X =?

By the method of cross multiplication,

X = \frac{1 *  6.6}{12}

X = \frac{6.6 * 10}{12 * 10}

X = \frac{66}{120}

X = \frac{11}{20}

X = 0.55

Thickness of coin = 0.55 cm

Hence, the thickness of each coin was found to be 0.55 cm.
