One dozen pencils is it to be distributed between two children, so that the

number of pencils the second child gets is double the number of pencils the

first child gets. How many pencils do the two children get?

If Child A gets x pencils

Then , Child B gets 2x pencils

Total pencils = 12

x + 2x = 12

3x = 12

x = 12/3 = 4

So , Child A gets 4 Pencils , and Child B gets 2×4 = 8 pencils
