One fourth of a herd of deer has gone to the forest. One third of the total number is
grazing in a field and remaining 15 are drinking water on the bank ofa river. Find the total
number of deer.

Answer:

The total number= x

x×1/4= X/4

If one fourth has gone,then the number of deer is

X+X/4= 5x/4

Then one third of the total number is gone. then the number of deer is 5x/4-5x/12

=15x-5x/12

= 10x/12

= 5x/6

5x/6= 15

or, 5x= 15×6

or, x= 18

Therefore The total number of deer is 18
