One fourth of a number is increased by 7 and the result is multiplied by 3. Thus, we obtain 38. Find the number.

Let the number be X
according to question
(1/4×x+7)×3=38
(x/4+7)×3=38
(x+28/4)×3 =38
3x+21=38
3x=38-21
3x=17
x=17/3
x=5.666
