Birds at the river bank = $\dfrac{x}{4}$

Birds in their nest = $\dfrac{x}{5}$

Remaining birds wandering in search of food = 22

$\therefore$ As per question,

$x - ( \frac{x}{4} + \frac{x}{5} ) = 22$

$\implies \: x - (\frac{5x + 4x}{20} ) = 22$

$\implies \: x - \frac{9x}{20} = 22$

$\implies \: \frac{20x - 9x}{20} = 22$

$\implies \: \frac{11x}{20} = 22$

$\implies x = \frac{22 \times 20}{11}$

$x = 40$

$\therefore$ Number of birds in their Nest = $\dfrac{x}{5}$ = $\dfrac{40}{5}$ = 8
