One half of a convex lens of focal length 10cm is covered with a black paper.Can such a lence produce an image of a complete object placed at a distance of 30cm from the lens?Draw a ray diagram to justify your answer.A 4cm tall object is placed perpendicular to the principal axis of a convex lens of focal length 20 cm.The distance of the object from the lens is 15cm.Find the nature,position and size of the image?

The convex mirror can produce image though it is covered with black paper.

ho=4cm

f=20cm

u=-15cm

By lens formula,

1/f=1/v-1/u

1/v=1/f+1/u=1/20-1/15=3-4/60=-1/60

v=-60

m=v/u=hi/ho

hi=8cm

The size of the image is 8cm.The image is virtual & erect.
