let the number = x

one half of the number = x/2

thrice the number = 3x

according to the problem given,

3x -x/2 = 2500

( 6x - x ) / 2 = 2500

5x / 2 = 2500

x = ( 2500 × 2 ) 5

x = 500 × 2

x = 1000

Therefore ,

required number = x = 1000
