The correct option is (a) Between 25 and 35 degree Celsius

GIVEN

The temperature of water = 25° C

The temperature of water = 35° C

TO FIND

The temperature of the mixture.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows-

Let

The volume of water with 25° temperature, V1 = 1l

The Volume of water with 35° temperature, V2 =1l

Let V1 have the temperature, T1 = 25°C

V2 has the temperature, T2 = 35°C

Let the energy required to heat a unit volume be, C.

Let the final temperature be, T0

So,

Heat gained by the first volume of water = V1 × C × (T0-T1)

Heat lost by the second volume of water = V2 × C × (T2-T0)

According to the low conservation of energy,

Heat gained = Heat lost

V1 × C × (T0-T1) = V2×C×(T2-T0)

V1T0 × V1T1 = V2T0 - V2T2

T0 = V1T1 + V2T2V1 + V2

Substituting the values in the above equation we get,

T0 = T1+T2/2

= 25+35/2

30° C

Hence, The correct option is (a) Between 25 and 35 degree Celsius
