Given:

One man completes a piece of work by working 5 hours a day for 10 days.

One boy completes a same work by working 8 hours a day for 20 days.

To Find:

The ratio of their efficiencies.

Solution:

One man took 50 hours to complete a piece of work.

One boy took 160 hours to complete the same job.

Tm = 50 hours

Tb = 160 hours

The efficiency ratio,

Total Work Done = Number of Days × Efficiency

Efficiency = Total work done/ number of hours   ----------(1)

Total work done by man and boy is same

Let Em and Eb be the efficiency of man and boy respectively.

Em/Eb = Tb/Tm

           = 160/50

           = 16/5

Em:Eb = 16:5

Therefore, The ratio of their efficiency is 16:5.
