Deforestation means clearing forests and using the land for other purposes. when vast track of land are cleared not only do trees fall but the habitats of animals and many organisms are destroyed. Some of these , due to loss of habitat are not able to survive . Every tree that is felled has a niche for some or the other animals or bird that either lives there or depends on it for food. Some live on the forest floor which is rich in undergrowth , some in the shrub layer and some in the top of trees. Food chains are disrupted as a result of the grave imbalance in the population of various species.
Large scale of deforestation has resulted in many problems like cutting down of trees on large scale has resulted in depletion of water vapour in the atmosphere which has in turn affect cloud formation , thus , resulting in less rainfall. This can even cause droughts. Decrease in the oxygen level also and animals become homeless because of large scale deforestation.
