One morning, Raghav was surprised to see that he had caught a golden fish; but he had not expected that morning would change his life. As he was collecting fishes from his net he found a beautiful golden fish struggling to free itself from the net. Raghav had not seen such a unique fish ever in his life.
He left all the other fishes to extricate it first. No sooner had he caught the fish delicately than the fish spoke, “Kindly free me o son of man; I am not an ordinary fish; I am the fairy of the sea animal world; I promise you won’t regret freeing me!”
Raghav was deeply astonished! Without much thinking he freed the fish. He went home happy and contented. He narrated the phenomenon to his mother who was bed-ridden because of a terminal illness. The mother expressed her approval at her son’s kindness.
Within a few days Raghav’s life was showered with pleasant incidents. His mother healed miraculously, he received a huge legacy from his distant uncle that made him quite rich. A beautiful girl married him. His life was filled with peace and happiness.
Raghav knew the secret behind all these pleasant fortunate happenings. The Golden Fish had made it happen in return for his kindness.
He went for wishing with his father every morning. His father was a fisherman and used to sell his catch in the market.
Raghav instantly fell in love with the goldfish and took it back home. The fish died in a couple of days.
Raghav now goes fishing every day to catch another goldfish but is yet to catch one.
