x=10+y

2nd equation

2y+3x=55

put the value of x from 1st equation

Answer:

Answer: The two numbers are 15 and 5.

Step-by-step explanation:

let smaller number be x and the greater number be y.

therefore,  y=x+10

= -x+y=10..(1)

2x+3y=55..(2)

Multiply (1) by 2

=   -2x+2y=20

  Add (1) and (2)

=    5y=75

    y=75/5

   therefore, y= 15.

Substitute y in (1)

=   15=x+10

    15-10=x

  therefore, x=5.
