One number is 10 more than the other.if their sum is 52 ,find the number

let the first number =x

and second number= y

according to question:-

x+10= y ......eq.1

and x+y = 52 .....eq.2

put eq.1 in eq.2 , we get:-

x+x+10=52

2x= 52-10

x= 42/2

x=21

put value of x in eq. 2, we get:-

21+y= 52

y=52-21

y=31

note:- in this question I used the substitution method

you can use either the cross multiplication or elimination method to find the solution but the method is lengthy to get the same answer. lol
