let the one number be x

then the other number is 3x

five is added to both the numbers then the numbers become ( x + 5 ) and ( 3x + 5 )

according to question :

3x + 5 = 2 ( x + 5 )

3x + 5 = 2x + 10

3x - 2x = 10 - 5

x = 5

and therefore :

one number = x = 5

and ,

other number = 3x = 3 × 5 = 15
