let the first number be x
let the second number be y
so according to the first condition
X = 3y - 4 -------- (1)
according to the second condition
X + y + 5 = 25
from (1)
3y - 4 + y + 5 = 25
4y + 1 = 25
4y = 25 - 1
4y = 24
y = 24/4
y = 6
putting value of y in eq. (1)
x = 3 (6) - 4
x = 18 - 4
X = 14
