now, A.T.Q, we have

x - 6 = y

=> y = x - 6 ---(1)

also, x + y = 38

=> x + (x - 6) = 38

=> x + x - 6 = 38

=> 2x = 38 + 6

=> 2x = 44

=> x = 44/2

=> x = 22

substituting x = 22 in equ(1), we get

y = x - 6

=> y = 22 - 6

=> y = 18

hence, the two numbers are 22 and 18
