let x be the smaller number.

therefore bigger number will be x+7

from given condition:-

(x+7)² = 77 + x²
x² + 14x +49 = 77 + x². ..... (a + b)²
x²-x²+14x = 77 - 49
14x = 28
x = 2

therefore smaller number is 2

bigger number = x+ 7
i.e 2+7 =9

hope it helps you out mate!

let one no be x-7
then another no . be x
x2=(x-7)^2+77
x2=x2+49-14x+77
-14x+126=0
14x=126
x=126/14
x=9
x-7=2
