★ Solution ↓

Let one number be x, then other number = x + 3.

→ According to question :-

→ x + x + 3 = 23

→ 2x + 3 = 23

→ 2x = 23 - 3

→ 2x = 20

→ x = \dfrac{20}{2}

x = 10

Now,

→ One number = x = 10

→ Other number = x + 3 = 10 + 3 = 13

Therefore, the numbers are 10 and 13.

★ Verification ↓

→ x + x + 3 = 23

→ 10 + 10 + 3 = 23

→ 20 + 3 = 23

→ 23 = 23

LHS = RHS

Hence verified.

23

Given :-

  • Second no. = 1st no. + 3
  • Sum = 23

To Find :-

  • 1st no. = ?
  • 2nd no. = ?

Solution :-

First forming equation :

Let the no. be x

{\mapsto{\bf{X + ( x + 3) = 23}}}

Solving starts :

{\leadsto{\sf{X + (X + 3) = 23}}}

{\leadsto{\sf{2x = 23 - 3}}}

{\leadsto{\sf{X = {\cancel\frac{20}{2}  }}}}

{\large{\blue{:{\longmapsto{\pink{\underline{\boxed{\pmb{\mathfrak{X = 10}}}}}}}}}}

Hence :

{\red{\underline{\green{\underline{\purple{\boxed{\red{\bf{2nd  \: no. = X + 3 = 10 + 3 = 13 }}}}}}}}}
