Answer:

let one number is x

another number is x-10

(x-10)+x=50

=> x-10+x=50

=> 2x=50+10=60

=> x=60/2=30

one number is 30 and the other number is 30-10=20

Answer :

›»› The two required numbers are 30 and 20 respectively.

Explanation :

Provided :

  • One number is less than the other number by 10.
  • The sum of these two numbers is 50.

To Find :

  • The two required numbers.

Solution :

Let us assume that, the one number is "x".

As it is given that, one number is less than 6he the other number by 10.

→ x - 10

As it is also given that, the sum of these two numbers is 50.

→ (x - 10) + x = 50

According to the given question,

→ (x - 10) + x = 50

→ x - 10 + x = 50

→ x + x - 10 = 50

→ 2x - 10 = 50

→ 2x = 50 + 10

→ 2x = 60

→ x = 60/2

x = 30

Therefore,

The other number will be,

  • (x - 10) = (30 - 10) = 20.

Hence, the two required numbers are 30 and 20 respectively.

Verification :

The sum of two numbers is 50

→ 30 + 20 = 50

50 = 50

Clearly, LHS = RHS

Here both the conditions satisfy, so our answer is correct.

Hence Verified !
