Answer:

Given:

  • one number is three times another
  • if 3 is added to both the number then one of the new number become twins that of the Other

Solving Question:

We are given that one number is three times another.Let 'x' and 'y' be the numbers.

⇒ 3x = y ........equ(1)

Again, it is given that if 3 is added to both the number

⇒ (x +3) and (y+3)

then one of the new number become twins the other.

⇒ 2(x+3) = (y+3) ....... equ(2)

Solution:

Substitute the values of equation (1) in equ(2)

⇒ 2(x+3) = (3x +3)

or, 2x +6 = 3x +3

or, x = 3

Substitute the value in equ(1)

3x = y

⇒ 3*3 =y

or, y = 9

Thus, the numbers are 3 and 9
