One number is twice the other. When the larger number is subtracted from 50, the result is two more than the smaller number subtracted from 40. Find the numbers.​

Let the smaller no. be X; Larger no be 2X

According to question the equation follows like this....

50-2X = 40-X+2

50-40 = 2X-X+2

10 = X+2

So. X = 8 (smaller no.)

Hence the larger no. is 2(8) = 16
