  • One number say x is thrice the other number.

  • The greater number is subtracted from 60.

  • The result is 5 less then the smaller number subtracted fror 55.

\sf{\huge{\underline{\red{To\:Find :-}}}}

  • The number involved.

Let the first number be x,

One of the number is x is & other thrice the other number.

So, The other number is 3a .

The greater number is subtracted from 60.

60 - 3a

The result is 5 less then the smaller number subtracted from 55.

The equation obtained, 60 - 3a = ( 55 - a) - 5

➝ 60 - 3a = 55 - a - 5

➝ 60 - 3a = 50 - a

➝ -3a + a = 50 - 60

➝ -2a = -10

➝ a = -10/-2

a = 5

  • One of the number is x = 5

  • So, The other number is 3x = 3 × 5 = 15

The value of x is 5 .

Step-by-step explanation:

\sf Given\begin{cases}\sf\longrightarrow One\:number\:x\:is\:thrice\;the\:other \\ \sf\longmapsto The\: greater \:number\:is\:substracted\:from\:60,</p><p>\\ \:\:\:\sf The\:result\:is\:5\:less\:than\:the\;smaller\:number\:substracted\:from\:55.\end{cases}

To find:-

The value of x

Solution:-

Let the first number be x

The other number will be=3x

  • Constructing Equation from the question we get,

\\ \sf\longmapsto 60-3x=(55-x)-5

\\ \sf\longmapsto 60-3x=55-x-5

\\ \sf\longmapsto 60-3x=50-x

\\ \sf\longmapsto 60-50=-x+3x

\\ \sf\longmapsto 10=2x

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=\dfrac{10}{2}

\\ \sf\longmapsto x=5
