One of the angles of a linear pair is 20° more than thrice the other angle. What is the measure of the smaller angle?

let one angle be x

then according to the question,

the second angle would be 3x+20

Linear pair means sum of two angles are 180°

therefore,

x+3x+20= 180

4x= 180-20

4x = 160

x= 160/4

x = 40°
