One of the commercially important carbon compound is ethanol.mention its two uses when a small piece of sodium is dropped into ethanol a gas is evolved.how can we test the gas evolved?

Uses of ethanol-
1. used in medicines and drugs as a solvent.
2.it is used as fuel in some engines under the name of 'Power Alcohol'

second part has some problem dude...'cuz ethanol does not react with metallic sodium.So, no gas is emitted.
