Directly participates in the process of photosynthesis is not a function of stomata.

  1. Stomata are fine pores which are surrounded by epidermal cells. These cells have specific name that is guard cells.
  2. Change in structure of guard cells is responsible for opening and closing of stomata.
  3. Stomata performs function of gaseous exchange and is site for transpiration as well.
  4. Thus, it has no direct role in photosynthesis.
